The 1915 shillings

While the responsibility for coining the 1915 Australian shilling fell to the Royal Mint in London, part of the job of striking the shillings was sub-contracted to the Heaton & Sons mint in Birmingham. The Heaton coins can be distinguished by the H mint mark on the reverse above the date.

Mint: London
Mintmark: None
Mintage: 800,000

Mint: Heaton & Sons, Birmingham
Mint mark: H above date
Mintage: 500,000

The London mint coins occur in two varieties which differ in the width of the date. There are no varieties reported for the Heaton coins but I would not be at all surprised if the same variations occurred in those.
